Follow the steps below to transfer your d’Vinci license to a new computer.
On the Old Computer:
- Open d’Vinci and select Help – About d’Vinci from the top menu. You will find your serial number listed here. Write it down, you will need it to activate license on your new computer.
- Close d’Vinci.
- Certain custom items and settings can be transferred to the new computer by copying files to a USB drive from the old computer to the same location on the new computer. Depending on what you want to transfer, you can transfer just one directory ( if you are sharing with a co-worker) at a time. Or all directories at once. (When transferring d’Vinci to new computer)
These files are located in the following directories:
- Inventory: C:\Documents\dVinci\Inventory
- Custom Items: C:\Documents\dVinci\Custom Library
- Custom Suppliers: C:\Documents\dVinci\Custom Suppliers
- Sales Schemes: C:\Documents\dVinci\Sales Schemes
- All Directories: C:\Documents\dVinci — **You might be prompted with this message when pasting this folder on your new computer: “The destination has “X” files with the same names” If so just click “Replace files in the destination.”
- Saved Designs: The file location for saved designs varies for every user. These files have a *.dvi file extension and can be easily copied to the new computer with a USB drive.
Default settings and Hot Keys will need to be setup again.
On the New Computer:
- Download the latest version of d’ Vinci via the The Source. The link can be found on the home page in the blue Quick Links section.
- After download is complete double-click the downloaded file to install. Once installation is finished double-click the desktop d’Vinci icon to launch the program.
- Enter in the Serial number that you made note of when prompted then click Authenticate. Once d’Vinci fully opens close it.
- Plug in USB drive and copy all files/designs to the appropriate locations
- Eject USB and restart your computer
- On the old computer go to Control panel>programs. Once the dialog box opens listing all your installed programs, scroll down until you you find “Tailored Living d’Vinci,” right-click on it and select “Uninstall.” d’Vinci will be uninstalled from the old computer preventing any licensing issues resulting in you being locked out of the program on your new computer.
- Transfer is complete.
